ImEPIK developed a 20-hour self-paced PCQI Online course, which is the first in a FSMA series, designed to prepare Preventive Control Qualified Individuals (PCQIs) for FSMA and the preventive controls for human food rule. The ImEPIK PCQI Online course is an interactive, assessment-based online learning environment that trains food-processing employees for the global food manufacturer industry. This course contains material meeting the alternative training allowed in the Preventive Control Human Food (PCHF) rule, plus additional interactive content and ability to take the course at your own pace.
This ten-module program is aimed at Preventive Control Qualified Individuals (PCQIs) in the food processing industry that need to be proficient in hazard analysis, risk-based prevention and control standards as required by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and is compliant under The United States’ FSMA Human Food Rule.

Certificates of Completion

When we say the course is “100% Online”, we mean that it’s self-paced and does not require you to schedule a virtual classroom session or attend a webinar. You do the training on your time, whenever you want and from wherever you and your computer/tablet are located. Other PCQI offerings require scheduling Part 1 & 2 sessions to complete the course and receive a completion certificate. Ours is totally self-paced and allows you to avoid stringent scheduling or limited seating in virtual classrooms.
There is no official accreditation or course endorsement required for a PCQI course to be considered legitimate. The FDA also does not legally require a course from a specific organization to become a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).
They do, however, ask that courses include the FDA’s Standard Curriculum and ImEPIK’s PCQI Online does include the FDA’s curriculum. There is also no requirement that your training certificate come from the FSPCA.
At the end of the day, an auditor or inspector will look at the quality of your facility’s food safety plan and how well you’re implementing your programs and protocols. Deficiencies in these areas will often indicate that a PCQI needs additional training.
We get this question a lot. Technically, there is no accredited certification program for PCQIs. What does exist is a standard training curriculum developed under the direction of the FDA, and that curriculum is included in ImEPIK’s PCQI Online training.
When food safety and quality professionals claim they are “PCQI certified,” what they mean is that they’ve earned a certificate showing that they’ve completed training.
